Tilsiter - 'Surchoix' Cheese

Swiss emigrants spread the art of cheese in many countries. So also in the former East Prussia, which today belongs to Russia. From there, from a town called Tilsit, Thurgau's Otto Wartmann returned home in 1893. He had a cheese recipe in his coat pocket. He refined it on the Holzhof in beautiful Bissegg, Thurgau. And he cultivated cheese making with completely new quality standards. The Swiss Tilsiter was finally at home.

Fresh milk, standardized processes, consistent control - that is the recipe for a perfect Tilsiter Switzerland. Tilsiter Switzerland has been around since 1893. The recipe has remained the same. The challenge also: to produce a cheese that inspires every day anew.
